Introduction

October 14th, 2009 | by johnearnhart |

Hello fellow ‘Yotes fans! I guess this is where we make our introductions and have awkward, first date, small talk. I’ll go first. My name is John Earnhart. I am a Marketing Assistant/Associate Editor for Fanball.com and am truly grateful to have the opportunity to work here. Never before have I worked with such intelligent, informative fantasy experts.

Now it’s your turn. Leave a comment or two; tell me what you’d like to see in this blog. Let me know if you’re a die hard Phoenix fan from the Tkachuk and “Bulin Wall” days or new to the club or even if you’re one of the remaining Winnipeg Jets fans. However, there are four things we won’t be doing on this blog.

1. Cry about Olli Jokinen. He’s gone, let’s move on.

2. Discuss Wayne Gretzky’s savvy business techniques.

3. Panic that we might be in Canada next year.

4. Use the word “bankruptcy”.

But, don’t get discouraged. There will be seven things that we will definitely be doing on this blog:

1. Game updates and analysis.

2. Discussing how awesome Shane Doan is.

3. Teaching everyone how to pronounce Bryzgalov.

4. Watching Paul Bissonnette fight (see below, we’ve already started).

5. Discussing how awesome Shane Doan is.

6. Analyze the genius that is Dave Tippett.

7. Wait for Oliver Ekman-Larsson.

With that out of the way, we can now find out what to expect from this club in ‘09. For starters, we already beat the reigning Stanley Cup champs 3-nil. Secondly, our division rivals that of the American League East. Before we even took the ice this year, we were already staring up at the Sharks, Ducks and the fast-starting Kings. Many skeptics expect us to finish last in the division and be in the bottom three by season’s end. But, never fear fans! The right motivation can turn any team around! Just look at the 2004 Boston Red Sox or the 1980 U.S. Men’s Olympic hockey team! We’ll just have to substitute Kurt Russell and Johnny Damon with Shane Doan and Ed Jovanovski. If you’re still not motivated and excited for this season, then watch the motivational speech below.

P.S. Welcome, Robert Lang.
P.P.S. Great job Phoenix Mercury! (not that anyone was watching)
